Trump Pursues Genuine Solution for Ukraine
Dmitriev’s remarks came just before Monday’s important gathering at the White House, which will bring together Trump, Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky, and multiple European leaders.
Trump has referred to the forthcoming discussions as a “big day,” noting that he has “never had so many European leaders at one time.”
Among those expected to attend alongside Zelensky in Washington are European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, and the leaders of the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Finland, and other European Union bodies.
On the social media platform X, Dmitriev commended Trump for “pushing for the real solution” to the conflict, expressing optimism that “problem solving and peace prevail during the Big Day.”
Dmitriev was part of the Russian delegation at last week’s Alaska summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which both parties described as productive and cordial.
After the meeting, Trump expressed his preference for a lasting peace agreement instead of a temporary ceasefire.
Moscow has consistently opposed short-term truces, arguing they might allow Kiev to rebuild and rearm its forces.
